The Centre was started in 1966.
Activities of the Mission centre :
- An English-Medium higher secondary school for tribal students, with a roll strength of 2057, which includes 707 girls.
- A hostel for 250 tribal boys.
- Instructional units giving training in dairy-farming, poultry-farming, agriculture, mechanical workshop, carpentry, printing, computer operations and others facilities for training the students.
- Two libraries and a reading room, with 20,802 books and 63 periodicals and newspapers.
- An audio-visual unit, which screens educative films for the local people (38 villages covered).
- A charitable dispensary, which treated 15,943 patients this year.
- A mobile medical unit, which treated 5947 patients this year.
- Welfare work : Providing blankets, nutrients, pecuniary help and other types of assistance to poor tribal families.
- Religious and cultural functions.
- Eighteen non-formal coaching centres with 685 students.

Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902) was an Indian saint, social reformer, and a great teacher of mankind. He was the foremost disciple of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Dev who is considered as the prophet of modern age. Swami Vivekananda was a towering spiritual personality, great thinker, orator and the prophet of universal harmony and progress.
